DESCRIPTION

The shimmer of the South Seas floats through Bali, with its totemic designs evoking island idylls - an escape from a too-contemporary world. No details were spared in weaving this intricate piece. The charcoal grey Tibetan wool background features a looped bouclé knot creating a distinct texture and also utilizes a special dyeing technique that layers darker and lighter tones to create a heathered effect. The motifs throughout are composed of varying fibers, from true 100% pure silk to our unique blend of wool, silk and nettle fibers which adds depth and shine from every perspective. The design elements feature tones of cobalt blue, silver, navy and ivory. This piece has been crafted by hand in our true 100 knot quality. color: cobalt

CRAFTSMANSHIP

New Moon rugs are hand-crafted by the most skilled artisans in Nepal. Following only the timeless traditional method of Tibetan rug weaving, we value the integrity of our product and insure that all of our rugs are woven using a “crossed” foundation. We use only the finest grade Tibetan wool available on the market, which importantly has also been hand-carded and hand-spun adding to the organic feel, quality and texture. Our silk is imported from China to ensure that the clarity and luster is the best in the industry.

For a select few collections, we have expanded our production reach into India where the historic weaving tradition is best suited to create different knotting techniques.  We use only 100% natural Indian wool, adding to the organic feel, quality and texture.

All of our raw materials are pot dyed by hand in small batches and our finished rugs are only gently washed to maintain the integrity of the natural lanolin in the wool which is a natural stain repellant, allowing it to develop a natural patina over time. To maintain the artistic integrity of our designs, we continue to draw our graphs by hand to ensure that the details of our hand-painted designs are translated into woven art. And we are proud to produce a finished product with the lowest pile height and most refined texture and ‘handle’ available on the market. As a second generation family business, you can trust that the artistic integrity as well as the craftmanship of each piece are held to the absolute highest standards.
